The educational programmes, scholarly content and creative works developed by the History of Art Academy reflect substantial academic research, professional expertise and original intellectual effort.

Unless otherwise stated, all content published by the Academy is protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual property laws.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • course notes;
  • educational texts;
  • essays;
  • presentations;
  • original research;
  • illustrations;
  • photographs owned by the Academy;
  • graphic design;
  • logos;
  • branding;
  • website content;
  • educational resources;
  • downloadable materials.

All intellectual property rights remain vested in the History of Art Academy or the respective copyright holder.

Permitted Use

Participants and Website visitors are welcome to use Academy materials for their own personal, non-commercial educational purposes.

Unless otherwise indicated, you may:

  • read Website content;
  • attend Courses;
  • download materials expressly made available by the Academy;
  • print materials for your own personal study;
  • cite Academy content for academic purposes, provided appropriate acknowledgement is given.

Restrictions

Without the Academy's prior written permission, you may not:

  • reproduce Academy materials;
  • distribute Course materials;
  • upload Academy content to third-party platforms;
  • publish lectures or presentations;
  • record Courses for commercial purposes;
  • modify Academy materials;
  • create derivative works;
  • use Academy branding;

  • sell Academy materials;

These restrictions apply irrespective of the medium in which the material is reproduced.

Course Materials

Course materials are supplied exclusively for the personal educational use of registered participants.

Participation in a Course does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property rights.

Participants may not share digital or printed Course materials with third parties unless expressly authorised by the Academy.

Photography During Courses

Participants remain responsible for complying with all photography regulations imposed by museums, galleries and other venues.

Where photography is permitted, photographs taken during Courses are intended for personal use only unless otherwise authorised.

Photographs of Course materials, presentations or educational resources may not be reproduced commercially without prior written permission.

Academy Name and Branding

The names:

History of Art Academy

together with the Academy's logo, visual identity, graphic elements and branding are valuable intellectual property of the Academy.

They may not be copied, imitated or used in any manner likely to create confusion regarding affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement.

Third-Party Copyright

Many works of art discussed during Courses remain protected by copyright belonging to museums, artists, photographers, estates or other rights holders.

The Academy fully respects these rights.

Nothing contained in the Academy's Website or educational programmes should be interpreted as transferring ownership of third-party intellectual property.

Participants are responsible for complying with all copyright restrictions imposed by museums, galleries and other institutions.

Fair Use and Academic Citation

The Academy actively encourages scholarly discussion and academic research.

Reasonable quotation and academic citation of Academy publications are welcomed, provided they comply with applicable copyright legislation and appropriate acknowledgement is given.

Requests for Permission

Requests concerning the reproduction, licensing, translation or other use of Academy materials should be submitted in writing using the contact details published on the Academy's Website.

Permission requests are considered individually.

Infringement

The Academy takes the protection of its intellectual property seriously.
